Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang (UNIMUS) continues to strengthen its global positioning as a progressive, adaptive, and internationally competitive university. The effort to elevate UNIMUS’s branding onto the global stage is closely tied to the visionary leadership of Rector Prof. Masrukhi, who consistently transforms international networking opportunities into tangible collaborations, achievements, and global recognition.

One of UNIMUS’s strategic initiatives is hosting the 1st ICD4SS: International Conference on Data Science for Food Sustainability on October 3–4, 2025. This international conference received funding support from the European Union’s Erasmus Plus program, marking a prestigious achievement that reflects international trust in UNIMUS’s capacity. The event strengthens UNIMUS’s reputation in addressing global strategic issues, particularly in integrating data science for food security and sustainability.

In the field of health and medicine, UNIMUS has been entrusted to host The 10th Annual Meeting of the Asian Society of Cryosurgery (ASC), supported by the International Society of Cryosurgery (ISC), scheduled for October 2026. This global scientific forum enhances UNIMUS’s visibility within the Asian and international medical communities, while also accelerating the development of UNIMUS Hospital as a teaching hospital connected to global medical networks in terms of services, clinical research, and health technology development.

Beyond hosting international forums, UNIMUS has achieved numerous global accomplishments among both students and faculty members. UNIMUS students have won more than 50 international awards across academic and non-academic competitions at regional, national, and global levels, including recognition in prestigious events such as the World University Debating Championship (WUDC) and the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO).

Meanwhile, UNIMUS lecturers have produced over 300 internationally indexed publications in Scopus and Web of Science journals. They are also involved in more than 30 cross-country collaborative research projects with leading universities across Asia, Europe, and America. These contributions not only enrich global knowledge but also enhance the university’s academic standing worldwide. In addition, UNIMUS alumni are spread across various countries, including Japan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United States.

In strengthening international networks, UNIMUS has established partnerships with more than 200 universities and institutions across 25 countries. These collaborations are implemented through international community service programs, student and faculty exchanges, international seminars, joint research, and co-publications. The International Community Service Program (KKN) alone has involved over 1,000 students contributing to communities worldwide while gaining cross-cultural experience.

From an institutional recognition perspective, UNIMUS continues to improve its presence in global rankings, including participation in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings for sustainability and preparation for competition in the QS Asian University Rankings. Continuous improvements focus on educational innovation, applied research, and environmental sustainability.

Through the synergy of leadership, achievements, and global networking, UNIMUS successfully transforms international opportunities into real accomplishments. These strategic efforts affirm that UNIMUS branding is not only recognized nationally but continues to expand globally, positioning UNIMUS as a leading university contributing to global civilization based on Islamic and Muhammadiyah values.
