Semarang | The Faculty of Nursing and Health Sciences (FIKKES) at Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang (UNIMUS) organized a Basic Trauma and Cardiac Life Support (BT-CLS) training program for students of the Professional Nursing Program on Monday, February 9, 2026. The training was conducted over five days, from February 9 to 13, 2026, at the classroom facilities of UNIMUS Hospital, Zone C, 3rd Floor.

A total of 80 nursing professional students participated in the program, which was carried out in collaboration with the Emergency Ambulance Foundation 118 as a partner in emergency training.
The training was structured into several stages. During the first three days, participants received theoretical knowledge and fundamental concepts of emergency care delivered by experienced instructors. The fourth day focused on clinical skills practice, while the fifth day was dedicated to evaluation, examinations, and the announcement of participants’ results.

This BT-CLS training is specifically designed for second-semester professional nursing students as essential preparation before undertaking clinical practice in hospital Emergency Departments (ED).
The program was officially opened by the Head of the Professional Nursing Study Program, Ns. Mariyam, M.Kep., Sp.Kep.An., who emphasized the importance of mastering basic emergency care competencies for future professional nurses.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Training Committee, Ns. Yanuan Ben Olina, S.Kep., MNS., Sp.Kep.Kom., explained that the training aims to equip students with the ability to provide prompt and accurate initial treatment to patients in emergency conditions.
He added that through this program, students are expected to be able to assess patient conditions effectively, understand appropriate treatment procedures, and develop sensitivity toward potential internal organ disorders that may not be immediately visible.

Furthermore, these competencies are crucial not only for handling visible injuries but also for managing hidden emergency conditions, enabling students to deliver comprehensive and professional nursing care.
Through this training, FIKKES UNIMUS reaffirms its commitment to producing competent, responsive, and well-prepared nursing graduates capable of handling emergency situations in the healthcare sector.
