Semarang | The Community Empowerment Team of the Student Executive Board (BEM) of the Faculty of Agricultural Science and Technology (FSTP), Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang (UNIMUS), organized the PM-BEM FSTP Expo on Thursday (December 4, 2025) at the Glesungrejo Village Hall. The event was attended by the Head of Glesungrejo Village, supervising lecturers, and student members of BEM FSTP UNIMUS.
This expo served as a platform for handing over Business Identification Numbers (NIB) to community partners, as well as showcasing and presenting the results of training programs on processing local commodities such as black rice and kepok bananas, including their peels. Prior to the expo, community partners—assisted by students—had participated in training sessions to develop various value-added products. Black rice was processed into products such as snack bars, steamed cakes, muffins, cookies, and beverages. Meanwhile, kepok banana peels were transformed into innovative products like snack bars, choco chips, dodol, and churros.
The team leader explained that the expo aimed to provide an opportunity for partners, including the Family Welfare Movement (PKK) and Farmer Groups Association (Gapoktan) of Glesungrejo Village, to present the outcomes of their training and demonstrate product development progress. He also expressed hope that the program would continue sustainably, with ongoing assistance for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
The Head of Glesungrejo Village highlighted that this initiative represents a strategic effort to promote product innovation that can enhance community welfare through the development of local food and beverage businesses. He emphasized the importance of continued collaboration among the village government, PKK, and Gapoktan to ensure long-term benefits for the community.
This expo marked the final stage of the Community Empowerment Program conducted by BEM FSTP UNIMUS, funded by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology in 2025.
