Semarang | November 1, 2025Students from the Faculty of Medicine (FK) and the Faculty of Dentistry (FKG) at Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang (UNIMUS) carried out a community service program based on Interprofessional Education (IPE) as a form of collaborative, cross-disciplinary learning in the health sector. The activity was conducted in the working area of the Rowosari Community Health Center in Semarang, involving students from both faculties to provide integrated healthcare services to the community.

The IPE program began with home visit activities for assisted families in Meteseh and Rowosari villages. The program concluded with a community service event at the Meteseh Village Hall, which included general health check-ups, dental and oral examinations, as well as health education for local residents.

This activity was not only aimed at delivering direct healthcare services to the community but also served as a learning platform for students to practice interprofessional collaboration in real field settings. Through this program, students were trained to enhance communication skills, teamwork, and empathy in providing comprehensive healthcare services.

The Head of the Rowosari Community Health Center expressed appreciation for the involvement of UNIMUS FK and FKG in supporting improvements in public health. He emphasized that such cross-professional collaboration is essential in addressing the complexity of health issues in society.

Meanwhile, the Vice Rector I of UNIMUS highlighted that the IPE program represents a concrete implementation of experiential learning that directly benefits the community. He also extended gratitude to the health center for providing opportunities for students to learn while contributing to society.
Through this initiative, UNIMUS reaffirms its commitment to developing interprofessional collaborative education oriented toward community service, while strengthening the university’s role in making meaningful contributions in health and humanitarian fields.
