Semarang | Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang (UNIMUS), through the Institute for Research and Community Service, once again initiated a capacity-building program for lecturers by organizing a Scientific Article Writing Workshop and Clinic on December 8–9, 2025. This initiative represents a strategic effort to enhance both the quality and quantity of academic publications among faculty members.
The main workshop was held on December 8, 2025, at the GKB 2 Hall, attended by all UNIMUS lecturers. It was followed by an intensive writing clinic conducted over two days, providing hands-on assistance for lecturers in preparing their scientific articles for publication.
In his remarks, Rector Masrukhi emphasized the importance of cultivating a writing culture as an integral part of academic professionalism. He encouraged lecturers to consistently produce scholarly works, including journal articles, textbooks, and popular scientific writings, as a means to improve academic quality.
The Rector also highlighted the role of institutional support, particularly internal research funding, in boosting publication output. He noted that such support has significantly increased the number of internationally indexed publications. Additionally, he urged lecturers to strategically plan their academic careers, including achieving higher functional positions up to professorship.
During the workshop sessions, Purnomo, Head of LPPM UNIMUS, delivered a presentation on strategies for publishing in reputable international journals. His session covered key aspects such as selecting appropriate journals, structuring effective scientific articles, avoiding desk rejection, and strengthening research collaboration.
Another session was delivered by Sayono, who discussed high-quality scientific writing. He emphasized the importance of research novelty, methodological accuracy, strong analysis, and adherence to academic ethics, including plagiarism prevention.
Following the workshop, participants joined the writing clinic, where they received direct mentoring to refine their articles. The clinic focused on improving article structure, strengthening methodology and analysis, identifying research gaps, preparing strong abstracts, and aligning manuscripts with target journal standards.
Through this program, UNIMUS reaffirms its commitment to enhancing lecturer professionalism and accelerating scientific publication output. The initiative is expected to produce high-quality academic works that contribute to the advancement of knowledge and strengthen the institution’s academic reputation.
