Semarang | Students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang (UNIMUS) have once again demonstrated their excellence at the national level through a technology-based innovation. A team from the Informatics Study Program successfully developed an intelligent application called EMONG, designed to monitor students’ mental health by automatically analyzing facial expressions using deep learning technology.

This innovation was initiated in response to the growing concern over mental health issues among students, particularly within school environments. The application enables teachers, counselors, and parents to better understand students’ emotional conditions quickly and accurately, allowing early intervention and appropriate support.

As part of the development process, the team conducted direct trials in school settings to evaluate the system’s effectiveness in real-world conditions. The results of these implementations were used to refine and improve the application before wider adoption.
Through this innovation, UNIMUS students not only achieved recognition in national competitions but also provided a practical solution that integrates artificial intelligence with educational needs, particularly in supporting student mental well-being.
