Semarang | October 21, 2025, The Faculty of Nursing and Health Sciences (FIKKES) at Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang (UNIMUS) conducted a Basic Trauma and Cardiac Life Support (BTCLS) training program aimed at strengthening the professional competencies of its students. The activity was carried out in collaboration with Ambulance Gawat Darurat (AGD) 118 and served as a structured effort to prepare students for handling emergency and critical care situations in clinical practice. The training was attended by students of the Nursing Professional Program and was designed to provide both theoretical understanding and hands-on simulation. Over several days of implementation, participants received intensive learning covering essential emergency care skills such as initial assessment, airway management, resuscitation techniques, and trauma handling procedures, which are crucial competencies for healthcare professionals working in hospitals and emergency settings. UNIMUS Student Innovation: EMONG Application for Student Emotion Detection Earns National Recognition
Semarang | Students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang (UNIMUS) have once again demonstrated their excellence at the national level through a technology-based innovation. A team from the Informatics Study Program successfully developed an intelligent application called EMONG, designed to monitor students’ mental health by automatically analyzing facial expressions using deep learning technology. This innovation was initiated in response to the growing concern over mental health issues among students, particularly within school environments. The application enables teachers, counselors, and parents to better understand students’ emotional conditions quickly and accurately, allowing early intervention and appropriate support. As part of the development process, the team conducted direct trials in school settings to evaluate the system’s effectiveness in real-world conditions. The results of these implementations were used to refine and improve the application before wider adoption. FKG and RSGM UNIMUS Organize National Dental Health Month 2025 to Raise Public Awareness
Semarang | The Faculty of Dentistry (FKG) and the Dental and Oral Hospital (RSGM) of Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang (UNIMUS) once again organized the National Dental Health Month (BKGN) 2025 as part of their commitment to improving public awareness of dental and oral health (14/10/2025). MPR RI Goes to Campus at UNIMUS Encourages Energy Transition and Environmental Awareness Among Students
Semarang — The People’s Consultative Assembly of the Republic of Indonesia (MPR RI) held its MPR Goes to Campus program at Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang (UNIMUS) on Thursday, September 25, 2025. The event carried the theme “Welcoming Sustainable High Economic Growth: The Urgency of Energy Transition” and featured the Deputy Speaker of MPR RI, Dr. Edy Soeparno, as the keynote speaker. The event was attended by the Rector of UNIMUS, university leaders, and hundreds of students from various study programs. In his remarks, the Rector expressed appreciation for the visit and emphasized the university’s commitment to improving educational quality and promoting environmental sustainability. He also highlighted several environmental initiatives implemented at UNIMUS, such as tree planting programs, land management, and the development of a Waqf Forest for Education, as part of the university’s efforts to foster environmental awareness. In his presentation, Dr. Edy Soeparno discussed the urgency of addressing environmental issues, climate change, and the need for energy transition to support sustainable economic growth. He pointed out that fossil fuels—especially coal—still dominate Indonesia’s energy mix, while the country has vast renewable energy potential, including solar, wind, hydro, and geothermal sources. He emphasized that accelerating the transition to renewable energy is essential to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and to achieve Indonesia’s decarbonization targets by 2060. In addition to energy issues, he also addressed the growing waste crisis in Indonesia and encouraged the adoption of innovative and sustainable waste management solutions, such as waste-to-energy technology. Students were encouraged to actively contribute to environmental preservation through research, real actions, and behavioral changes, such as saving electricity and properly managing waste. The MPR Goes to Campus program is part of a national initiative targeting dozens of universities across Indonesia, aiming to involve academic communities in developing sustainable ideas and policies while strengthening the role of students in addressing climate and energy challenges.
